Our Story

Hi, I'm Vick.

I'm the founder of The Loyal Mark. I'm writing this myself, from our kitchen table in Vaughan, Ontario, usually after our four-month-old has finally gone down for the night.

I started this brand in January 2026, the same month my first child was born. Two big things showing up in the same week is either great timing or terrible timing depending on the day. Most days it feels like both.

Why dogs

I grew up around them. My father bred dogs when I was young, and at one point we had twenty-one of them in and around the house. Goldens, labs, working dogs, family dogs. I don't think I understood at the time how unusual that was. To me it was just the soundtrack of childhood: paws on hardwood, food bowls clattering, the smell of warm fur after a walk.

Later in life I had my own. A golden and a lab. Two dogs I loved completely.

When my son was born, my wife's allergies turned out to be more serious than we knew. I had to find new homes for both of them. It was the hardest thing I've done as an adult and I am still not over it. Building this brand is partly how I'm processing that loss. Every piece I send out is a tribute to the dogs I had to let go and the dogs my dad raised before them.

Why embroidered

When I was looking for a hoodie with a golden retriever on it, I bought one from a big online retailer. It cracked after three washes. The print peeled. The fit was off. I knew I could do better, and more importantly, I knew the people I'd want to sell to deserved better.

Embroidery is different. The breed silhouette and your dog's name are stitched directly into the fabric with industrial thread. It doesn't peel. It doesn't fade. It has weight and texture you can feel with your thumb. Twenty years from now, the hoodie will still have the embroidery, even if it doesn't have the rest of the hoodie around it.

That's the standard I'm building toward. Pieces you'll still be wearing when your dog isn't around anymore. Pieces worth keeping.

Why Made in Canada

Every order ships from our fulfillment partner's facility in Mississauga, just down the road from where I live. That means Canadian customers don't pay customs, don't wait three weeks for things to come across a border, and don't get hit with surprise duty fees at delivery. It also means I can drive twenty minutes to see exactly how my pieces are made, which I have done.

What's coming

Right now I'm focused on four breeds: Golden Retriever, French Bulldog, Dachshund, and Corgi. These are the ones I know best and the ones I can get the embroidery exactly right on. I'm not interested in being everything for everyone. I'm interested in being the best at these four.

What's coming next: custom-engraved drinkware, dog tags, dog bowls, and embroidered bandana collars. Everything personalized with your dog's name. Everything built to the same standard as the apparel.

One last thing

I still have a full-time job. Bills don't pause for new businesses or new babies. So when you order from The Loyal Mark, you're not buying from a faceless print-on-demand operation. You're buying from a guy who packs his email queue after his kid goes to sleep, who writes thank-you notes for every order, and who genuinely cannot believe you trusted a brand-new brand enough to give it a try.

Thank you for being here.
