Embroidery Care
How to keep the stitching looking brand-new.
Real embroidery is real thread. Treat it the way you'd treat your dog's coat — gently, and not too often — and it'll outlast everything else in your closet.
The short version
- Inside-out, cold water. Always.
- Gentle cycle with similar colors.
- Tumble low or hang to dry — high heat shrinks the fleece and dulls the thread.
- No fabric softener on the embroidery.
- Iron around the embroidery, never directly over it. Use a pressing cloth if needed.
Why we say it that way
The embroidery on every Loyal Mark piece is run on commercial machines at high stitch density — that's why it looks substantial in person and survives years of wear. But thread, like everything textile, has a lifespan. The most common ways people kill embroidery early:
- Hot wash + hot dryer (the fleece shrinks around the stitches and they pucker)
- Bleach (dulls and yellows the thread)
- Wash bag with metal zippers (snags loose stitches over time)
- Ironing directly over satin-stitch fills (flattens the texture permanently)
Storage
Fold, don't hang for long stretches — heavyweight fleece sags on hangers. If you must hang, use a wide wooden hanger and fold the body over the bar.
Got a stain?
Spot-treat with cold water and a small amount of gentle detergent. Avoid scrubbing the embroidery directly. For anything stubborn, take it to a dry cleaner that handles embroidered apparel — it's worth the $8.
Damaged stitching?
If a stitch pulls or a corner of the embroidery comes loose within 30 days of delivery, email support@theloyalmark.com with a photo. We'll either re-stitch it or replace the piece — no questions.
